2008-09 Official Film | Volvo Ocean Race
The 2008-09 Volvo Ocean Race was won by Torben Grael and Ericsson 4 after 37,000 miles of hard-fought racing. Starting for the first time in Alicante, the new home of the race and finishing in Saint Petersburg, Russia. It was Grael’s second attempt at winning the coveted trophy, and to date his last appearance in the race. The 2008-09 Volvo Ocean Race was also the first time each boat carried a dedicated Media Crew Member to record life onboard.📹📸 Elsewhere this race saw the debut of future winner Ian Walker, skippering Green Dragon, while Ken Read led a campaign for the first time aboard PUMA Ocean Racing. There was another great story as 60 year old veteran Magnus Olsson stepped in as skipper of Ericsson 3 for the second half of the race, leading the young team to a memorable and unexpected come-from-behind victory in the marathon 40 day Leg 5 from Qingdao to Rio. 🥇 Don’t forget to subscribe for more The Ocean Race: https://goo.gl/BzBCwU Check out our full video catalogue: https://goo.gl/nrB9ay Like The Ocean Race on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theoceanrace/ Follow on Twitter: https://twitter.com/theoceanrace/ Follow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theoceanrace/ Read More: http://www.theoceanrace.com MB01UMQOQDPODTJ

2011-12 Official Film | Volvo Ocean Race
The 2011-12 Volvo Ocean Race is remembered for brutal conditions which dismasted or otherwise damaged large portions of the six boat fleet from the start, with half the boats retiring on Leg 1 from Alicante to Cape Town. 🇪🇸👉🇿🇦 Franck Cammas and Groupama would go on to win the race, making Cammas only the second French skipper to take victory in the race’s history after Lionel Péan in 1985-86.🇫🇷🥇 Groupama did it the hard way though after Spanish boat Telefónica had dominated the first few legs. Groupama then dismasted on Leg 5 from Auckland to Itajaí, diverting to Punta Del Este in Uruguay for improvised repairs. However consistency over the remaining stages gave the French team the overall win with one leg remaining, and Cammas finally lifted the trophy at the finale in Galway.🇮🇪 The 2011-12 Volvo Ocean Race was also the last showing of the Volvo Open 70 class before the introduction of the one-design Volvo Ocean 65 for the 2014-15 race. ⛵️🌍 Don’t forget to subscribe for more The Ocean Race: https://goo.gl/BzBCwU Check out our full video catalogue: https://goo.gl/nrB9ay Like The Ocean Race on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theoceanrace/ Follow on Twitter: https://twitter.com/theoceanrace/ Follow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theoceanrace/ Read More: http://www.theoceanrace.com MB01YFQ9FH8ZPCN

2001-02 Official Film | Volvo Ocean Race
The 2001-02 race was the first to be run as The Volvo Ocean Race 🚘🇸🇪, with the Swedish company taking ownership of the event for a tenure that would extend through the 2017-18 edition. It would also be the last race to start in the UK. Eight highly prepared and professional teams took the start in Southampton, and there was drama nearly immediately, with the highly touted Assa Abloy team changing skippers in Cape Town after a disappointing fifth place result on the first leg. Neal MacDonald would take over for Roy Heiner. American John Kostecki led the Illbruck Challenge to victory with Assa Abloy making a late charge. Grant Dalton was at the head of the two-boat effort of Amer Sports, and his team rounded out the podium, an impressive result given the late start to the campaign. The second boat in stable, Amer Sports Too was an all female effort skippered by Lisa MacDonald, who, along with husband Neal, made for a unique husband/wife skipper duo in the race. 👫 Don’t forget to subscribe for more The Ocean Race: https://goo.gl/BzBCwU Check out our full video catalogue: https://goo.gl/nrB9ay Like The Ocean Race on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theoceanrace/ Follow on Twitter: https://twitter.com/theoceanrace/ Follow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theoceanrace/ Read More: http://www.theoceanrace.com

2005-06 Official Film | PART ONE | Volvo Ocean Race
🎞This video covers Leg 1 to Leg 4. Part Two is available here - https://youtu.be/uu28h6LLu_c The 2005–06 race was the first to start outside the UK, with an opening leg from Vigo in Spain to Cape Town, South Africa. A new class of boat, the Volvo Open 70 was introduced - a more radical yacht with a canting keel, which would cause some boats serious problems on the 31,000 nautical mile route around the world.⛵️🌎 This race is will also be remembered for the tragic loss of Hans Horrevoets aboard ABN AMRO TWO during Leg 7 from New York to Portsmouth. The young crew of the Dutch sponsored boat were then called upon to rescue their competitors aboard the stricken Movistar during the same leg. Movistar had suffered a catastrophic keel pivot failure, and skipper Bouwe Bekking made the difficult decision to abandon ship. All ten crew members then transferred by liferaft to the attending ABN AMRO TWO, still with the recovered body of Horrevoets stowed aboard. The race was won by ABN AMRO ONE, the sister boat of ABN AMRO TWO, skippered by New Zealander Mike Sanderson. For Sanderson, the win was the crowning achievement of his career, leading to one of the race’s most iconic quotes, “This is my Olympic gold, my Mount Everest, this is my childhood dream, to get to skipper a boat and win the Volvo Ocean Race." ⛵️🌊🥇 Don’t forget to subscribe for more The Ocean Race: https://goo.gl/BzBCwU Check out our full video catalogue: https://goo.gl/nrB9ay Like The Ocean Race on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theoceanrace/ Follow on Twitter: https://twitter.com/theoceanrace/ Follow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theoceanrace/ Read More: http://www.theoceanrace.com

Directed by Nicholas Ray, it offered both social commentary and an alternative to previous films depicting delinquents in urban slum environments. The film stars James Dean, Sal Mineo and Natalie Wood. The film was a groundbreaking attempt to portray the moral decay of American youth, critique parental style, and explore the differences and conflicts between generations. The title was adopted from psychiatrist Robert M. Lindner's 1944 book, Rebel Without a Cause: The Hypnoanalysis of a Criminal Psychopath. The film, however, does not make any references to Lindner's book in any way. Warner Bros. released the film on October 27, 1955. Over the years, the film has achieved landmark status for the acting of cultural icon James Dean, fresh from his Oscar nominated role in East of Eden and who died before the film's release, in his most celebrated role. This was the only film during Dean's lifetime in which he received top billing. In 1990, Rebel Without a Cause was added to the Library of Congress's National Film Registry as being deemed "culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant". CREDITS: TM & © Warner Bros. Dragstrip Girl - Film Trailer
In the 1950s American parents were afraid that their darling youngens would choose a life of fast cars, sex and dangerous living among the hot rod set. Movie makers were quick to exploit these fears and the attraction these cars had on suburban teens who's raging hormones fueled the success of inexpensive to make drive in movies geared to appeal to them. While they seem innocent and quaint now -- these were controversial subjects not too long ago.

Grease (1978) - Thunder Road Race Scene (10/10) | Movieclips
Danny (John Travolta) and Leo (Dennis Stewart) race for pink slips, while Sandy (Olivia Newton-John) watches from a distance. BUY THE MOVIE: https://www.fandangonow.com/details/movie/grease-1978/1MV0d7829f8fda4bafc3c97c17c4f888014?cmp=Movieclips_YT_EndCard Grease movie clips: http://j.mp/1BcPM13 FILM DESCRIPTION: "Grease," said the poster and the Barry Gibb song, "is the word." Transferring its setting from Chicago to sunny California, and adding a dash of disco to the ersatz '50s score, producer Allan Carr and director Randal Kleiser turned this long-running Jim Jacobs-Warren Casey Broadway smash into the biggest blockbuster of 1978. 1950s teens Danny (John Travolta) and Australian transfer Sandy (Olivia Newton-John) spend their "Summer Nights" falling in love, but once fall comes, it's back to Rydell High and its cliques. As one of the bad-boy T-Birds, Danny has to act cool for best pal Kenickie (Jeff Conaway) and their leather-clad mates Sonny (Michael Tucci) and Doody (Barry Pearl, in the role Travolta played on-stage). Despite befriending Frenchy (Didi Conn), one of the rebel Pink Ladies, virginal Sandy is "too pure to be Pink," as the Ladies' leader, Rizzo (Stockard Channing), acidly observes. Declaring their devotion in such ballads as "Hopelessly Devoted to You" and "Sandy," Sandy and Danny split, reconcile, and split again amidst a pep rally, dances, drive-ins, and a drag race, before deciding "You're the One That I Want" at the climactic carnival. With Travolta white-hot from Saturday Night Fever (1977), Grease soundtrack singles climbed the charts and summer movie crowds poured in. With the presence of Joan Blondell, Eve Arden, Sid Caesar, Edd "Kookie" Byrnes, and Frankie Avalon appealing to grown-up memories, Grease became the highest-grossing film of 1978, the highest-grossing movie musical ever, and the third most popular film of the new blockbuster '70s after Star Wars (1977) and Jaws (1975). Its sequel, Grease 2, did not exactly set the world on fire in 1982.
